Antonio VANETTI (1881–1962) - Lot 135
Antonio VANETTI (1881–1962) Roman charioteer. Gilded and chiseled bronze group. Signed on the base. H_35 cm W_47 cm D_31 cm (Damage: one broken leg) An Italian sculptor active in the first half of the 20th century, Antonio Vanetti developed a figurative body of work in which a love of antiquity, movement, and equestrian depictions played a significant role. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, from which he graduated in 1900, he went on to exhibit his sculptures at several national and international events, notably in Milan, Brussels, Paris, and Ghent. His career also took him outside Europe, particularly to Asia during the 1920s.
