Jean-Michel BASQUIAT (1960-1988), after - Lot 171
Jean-Michel BASQUIAT (1960-1988), after Untitled; Horn Players; All Colored Cast I; Venta Suite of four plates in Limoges porcelain with polychrome enamel decoration Ligne Blanche edition. D_ 21 cm Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) is a major American contemporary artist, born in Brooklyn of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent. First known in the 1970s for his SAMO graffiti in the streets of New York, he quickly established himself on the international art scene with his expressive, instinctive and deeply committed painting. His work blends drawing, text and symbols, addressing themes such as black identity, racism, power, history, death and criticism of contemporary society. His raw style, marked by the energy of street art and expressionism, is characterized by the use of bright colors, fragmented figures, crossed-out words and multiple cultural references. A collaborator of Andy Warhol, Basquiat enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame before his premature death at the age of 27.
