Louis-Joseph de Montmorency-Laval, born December 11, 1724 and died June 17, 1808 in Hamburg-Altona, was a French ecclesiastic, bishop of Orléans from 1754 to 1758, bishop of Condom from 1758 to 1760, then 94th bishop of Metz from 1760 to 1801 and Grand Chaplain of France since 1786, appointed cardinal on March 30, 1789. During the French Revolution, he opposed the civil constitution of the clergy and emigrated. After the signing of the Concordat, he did not obey the Pope, who asked for his resignation. Expert : M.
