Roger PIERHOL (1908-1984). - Lot 370
Roger PIERHOL (1908-1984). Aquatic views. Pair of oils on panel signed lower right. Dimensions: 97 x 97 cm and 135 x 107 cm. A painter, he was born in 1908 in Bainville-aux-Miroirs (54) and died in Nancy in 1984. His teacher was Victor Prouvé at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Nancy, before joining the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Paris. He worked in Paul Colin's studio. He also taught drawing at the Ecole Saint-Sigisbert in Nancy. For a period of his life (until the 1939-1945 war), R. Pierhol painted beautiful landscapes, city views and still lifes that are closely related to the Ecole de Paris. He was mobilized in 1939, taken prisoner by the Germans, then released by the Soviets only in 1945. He returned broken, which had an impact on his work. Bibl.: "Harcos "Peintres et graveurs lorrains" (Lorraine painters and engravers) Consultant : Mr. Robert Leterrier
