Writer, agronomist and politician François de Neufchâteau (1750-1828) started out as a child prodigy, and was admitted to numerous provincial academies at an early age. During the Revolution, he spent a few days as President of the Assemblée Nationale in 1792; as a member of the Neuf Soeurs Lodge, his zeal against the Church was evident.
