AUCTION: MODERN ART & DECORATIVE ARTS

NANCY. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2026, AT 2:00 PM

A selection dedicated to Art Nouveau and the decorative arts of the late 19th and early 20th centuries will be offered at auction in Nancy.

At the heart of this auction, the École de Nancy takes center stage with a particularly rich collection of glassworks by Émile Gallé, Daum Nancy, Muller Frères, André Delatte, and D’Argental. Multi-layered vases, acid-etched floral designs, landscapes, light fixtures, and pieces with refined compositions showcase the full diversity and virtuosity of Nancy’s artistic creation.

Among the pieces, several works by Émile Gallé are particularly noteworthy, including a spherical vase on a pedestal decorated with passionflower motifs, as well as an exceptional “moonlight” opalescent glass ring holder, embellished with enameled decoration and gold highlights.

Daum Nancy will also be represented by a collection of glassware and lighting fixtures, including a large bronze and glass pendant light created in collaboration with Louis Majorelle.

The selection continues with several works by René Lalique, including the “La Phalène” bottle for D’Héraud, a 1923 design, as well as the “Hirondelles” vase, created in 1919.

The collection is rounded out by works by Jacques Grüber, Charles Schneider, Paul Nicolas, Lucien Gaillard, Ernest-Baptiste Léveillé, Mougin Frères, and several other iconic artists and houses of the French decorative arts.

Through this selection, the auction pays tribute to a pivotal period in the history of French decorative arts, when nature, technical innovation, and aesthetic exploration gave rise to works that have since become iconic.
