CÉSARÉE/KAYCÉRI Silk Carpet - Lot 63
CÉSARÉE/KAYCÉRI Silk Carpet Central Asia Minor. Circa 1930–1940. Silk pile on a silk ground. A brick-red field in a pointed ogive shape, with a frieze of small carnations, features two small columns adorned with foliage, supporting a cream-colored vault with stylized ivory foliage, from which a symbolic floral composition hangs. A pink lintel with flowering branches surmounts the entire design. Six counter-borders, in ivory and pistachio, featuring multicolored florets, frame the main ivory border with a series of pastel corollas set on floral stems arranged in a staggered pattern.
