Stanislas SLAWINSKI (Krakow, 1956) - Lot 26
Stanislas SLAWINSKI (Krakow, 1956) Low Tide Oil on hardboard Signed lower right H_ 42.5 cm; W_ 53.5 cm Provenance: The artist’s studio Then passed by inheritance to the current owner Trained in fine arts in Poland, Stanislas Slawinski, born in Kraków in 1956, devotes himself to the restoration of the facades of medieval monuments in Kraków and Bielsko-Biała, in Silesia. His classically styled work is inspired by his studies of architecture from Poland’s Golden Age and his research into the medieval treasures he examined during the archaeological excavations at Rynek in the Warsaw countryside. His compositions are nourished by a meditation on the Gospels and the great classical works of Polish art. The landscapes take on whimsical forms that reveal Slavic irony and melancholy; themes of the desert and a humanity in spiritual decline are punctuated by allusions to the Book of Revelation.
