Car maintained by Mr. Pierre Nallet, a Maserati specialist for over 28 years.
Launched in 1975, the Maserati Merak SS is the most refined version of the Merak. Equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 220 ch mounted in a mid-rear position, it offers remarkable balance and a distinctly Italian character.
Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, this elegantly styled coupe draws inspiration from the famous Maserati Bora while offering a more versatile driving experience.
With only about 1,000 units produced, the Merak SS remains a sought-after model today for its rarity, timeless design, and authentic driving experience. Long overshadowed by the Bora, it is now recognized by enthusiasts as one of the most endearing classic Maseratis of the 1970s.
This Maserati Merak SS was first registered on February 21, 1978, in Milan. It left the factory in its original Rosso Fuoco paint color and, according to the information available to us, is believed to have had four Italian owners before being acquired by a German collector in 2015.
On February 7, 2025, it was offered at auction by Artcurial in its original condition, without having undergone any restoration or thorough mechanical overhaul.
It was purchased by Pierre Nallet, who overhauled and service the entire mechanical system to ensure reliability. The work performed included, notably, the reconditioning of the carburetors, an ignition system overhaul, oil changes, and the restoration of the braking system, the clutch, and the fuel delivery system.
Thanks to these repairs, this Merak SS retains all of its original character while offering sound and reliable performance. However, there is still a spot of rust on the front left floor panel that needs to be addressed.
It is now ready to hit the road and be fully appreciated by its future owner.
