Note: This very early work dates from the period when Fred Deux was developing his visual language. At that time, the artist experimented in particular with paint splatters, imprints, and lacquer, which he extended through drawing to bring forth organic and imaginary forms. These explorations preceded the *Kleepathologies* of 1952–1954.
