Francisco CHICO DA SILVA (1910-1985) - Lot 70
Francisco CHICO DA SILVA (1910-1985) Rooster Gouache on canvas, signed and dated 1974 lower right. H_68.5 W_47.5 cm (Wear to canvas) Brazilian painter and engraver Francisco "Chico" da Silva developed an artistic language at the crossroads of realism and modernism. Trained in academic traditions, he integrated the influences of the Brazilian avant-garde of the 1920s-1930s, while retaining a deep attachment to popular culture. His work explores everyday life and Brazil's urban and rural landscapes, playing on color, light and rhythm to convey a sensitive, vivid vision of his times. His engravings also testify to his technical mastery and ability to synthesize form and emotion.
