Guillermo Pérez Villalta (born May 12, 1948 in Tarifa, province of Cadiz, Spain) is a Spanish painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer and polymath artist, considered one of the leading figures of Madrid's New Figuration and Spanish pictorial posmodernism of the second half of the XXᵉ century.Originally from Cadiz, he began studying architecture in Madrid, which he abandoned to devote himself fully to painting from the late 1960s. His first solo exhibition took place in 1972 at the Sala Amadis gallery in Madrid, a central venue for the Spanish avant-garde at the time.Pérez Villalta became one of the protagonists of the Nueva Figuración Madrileña, a 1970s movement that sought to reintroduce narrative figuration and symbolic intent into painting, in reaction to the dominant abstraction. His style combines Mannerist and Baroque influences, mythological, architectural and cultural allusions; it blends classical elements, pop references, inventive perspectives and symbolically rich narrative forms.Pérez Villalta's career spans several decades and includes numerous solo and group exhibitions in Spain and abroad. His work can be found in the collections of prestigious museums such as the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao, the Fundación Juan March and the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo.
