Rudolf HLOUSEK (1930s - Bohemia) - Lot 37
Rudolf HLOUSEK (1930s - Bohemia) Rectangular cut-edge spray bottle in ochre-tinted molded glass with frosted decoration of a nymph's head, doves and flowers. Art Deco period. Damage. H_17cm Rudolf Hloušek (1909-1992) was a Czech master glassmaker active in Bohemia in the 1930s, notably in Železný Brod. He studied at the town's State Vocational School for Glass Industry between 1924 and 1927, where he founded a workshop specializing in the artistic processing of glass, including grinding, engraving, sandblasting and cutting. His company became one of the region's most renowned modern artistic glassworks, producing vases, bowls and other objects in molded, engraved or cut glass, often decorated with figurative motifs in Art Deco relief. Hloušek's work was awarded the Grand Prix at the Brussels World Fair in 1935. The workshop remained in business until 1948, when it was nationalized, and some of its shapes were incorporated into other Czech glassworks.
