Frantisek PAZOUREK for glassmakers Curt SCHLEVOGT (1869-1959 - Lot 34
Frantisek PAZOUREK for glassmakers Curt SCHLEVOGT (1869-1959), "Bacchante Malachite-style glass vase. Circa 1930. H _24 cm František Pazourek (1905-1997) was a Czechoslovak designer renowned for his Art Deco glass creations. In the 1930s, he collaborated with the Curt Schlevogt glassworks in Gablonz (today Jablonec nad Nisou) to design a series of vases in malachite glass, including the "Ingrid" model. These vases are distinguished by their translucent jade-green color and relief decoration depicting dance scenes or female figures surrounded by bunches of grapes. The manufacturing technique involved pressure molding, often with the use of compressed air, and a meticulous finish with polished, matt surfaces. The "Ingrid" series was launched in the early 1930s and quickly gained international renown. It was first presented to the public at the Leipzig Salon in 1934, where it met with great success. The collection has grown over the years to include over a thousand different models, making it a unique phenomenon in Czechoslovak decorative glass at the time.
