Aelbrecht Bouts (c.1452-1549), entourage of - Lot 5
Aelbrecht Bouts (c.1452-1549), entourage of Christ the Savior of the World or Salvator Mundi Oil on panel. H_41 cm L_30 cm The panel shows a break on the left side, as well as a previously restored crack. This type of break, typical of panels that have been mounted too tightly, can be easily restored by a qualified restorer. Our panel, painted in the 16th century, features a popular iconography by Dirk and Aelbrecht Bouts. Christ is presented as the Redeemer, but in an image of pain, wearing the crown of thorns.
