Hendrick van Balen (1573-1632) and Jan Brueghel the Elder (1 - Lot 2

Hendrick van Balen (1573-1632) and Jan Brueghel the Elder (1568-1625), entourage of Virgin and Child with Two Angels in a Landscape Oil on copper. H_35 cm L_27 cm Wear and overpainting. Our painting is a perfect illustration of the collaborations common among Flemish painters of the 17th century. Some specialized in landscapes or floral decorations, while others were masters of figure painting. The most famous of these collaborations between Brueghel the Elder and Rubens. The various restorations carried out on our copper in no way detract from the quality of the work, but do not allow us to put forward a clear attribution. Indeed, some passages show a very fine technique, while others are heavier and probably the work of a restorer. Expert : Cabinet Artéon
