Henri MATISSE (1869-1954), After - Lot 39
Henri MATISSE (1869-1954), After The Sword Swallower, Plate XIII from the album "Jazz", 2004 Lithograph reissued by Nicolas and Claude Draeger on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the painter's death, under the control of the "Succession Henri Matisse". Dimensions: 39 x 30 cm Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was a leading French visual artist, renowned for his innovative use of color and original drawing. He is often associated with the Fauvist movement, which favored vivid colors and expressive brushwork. One of Matisse's most striking late works is Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence , painted in the late 1940s, when he was about 80. This chapel is considered the culmination of his artistic explorations, and illustrates his unique approach to color and form. Matisse's legacy includes a variety of lithographs and prints, still produced and celebrated today. For example, high-quality lithographic editions of his works, such as "La chevelure", are produced under the auspices of the Succession Matisse.
