Paul Milet (1870-1950) was a major French ceramist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Son of ceramist Félix Optat Milet, he grew up in the world of ceramics in Sèvres, where his father founded a workshop in 1866 in the immediate vicinity of the Manufacture Nationale. Trained as a chemist in the laboratory at the Manufacture de Sèvres, Paul Milet soon joined the family business, taking over its management after his father's death in 1911.
His work spans the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, with forms ranging from the organic, vegetal lines of Art Nouveau to the more refined, geometric contours characteristic of Art Deco.
