Aimé Daniel Steinlen (1923-1996) was a French painter, engraver and illustrator, descended from the family of the artist Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he led a varied career that included exhibitions, teaching and illustration, notably of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Pilote de guerre. His work, characterized by a distinctive light and classical realist style, often features landscapes of northern France, scenes of daily life and still lifes. Also active as a printer and lithographer, he produced numerous original color lithographs, which continue to be sought-after in private and public collections. Provenance: Estate of Docteur Marius Mozer by descent.
