LAMI (E.-O.) - Dictionnaire encyclopédique et biographique de l'industrie et des arts industriels. Paris, Librairie des Dictionnaires, 1881; folio, approx. 8,000 pp. half-bottle green morocco bindings, ornate spines, painted edges. All 8 volumes. This dictionary (1880) presents the world and industrial art of the century, essential to understanding industrialization. It covers railroads, factories, steam, printing and engraving. It also provides biographies of important scientists and figures in every field. Remember that industry was born at the beginning of the 19th century, and that it was in 1820 that the first engineering and architecture schools with an industrial vocation were created. Indispensable for the historian of labor and engineering. Good condition. Expert : M. Philippe HENRY
