Rare AKSTAFA (Caucasus) rug, late 19th century Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. A marine field sown with flowers, gems and entomological forms supports four octagonal ivory and brick medallions, covered with polychrome stylized flora and fauna. They are interspersed with fantastical animals, half dragon, half phoenix. Two small brick borders with a series of ivory and sky "S" flank the main ivory border with a succession of "double multicolored parrots". Dimensions: 327 x 135 cm Expert : Frank Kassapian
