MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th century Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. A crenellated hexagonal medallion in abraded navy and brick, and its pendants, is set on an oblong hexagonal ivory field framed by four brick spandrels, the whole covered with polychrome flowers and floral scrolls. Two small brick counter-borders with garlands of flowers frame a bluish border with a succession of polychrome stylized corollas in full bloom. Dimensions: 198 x 133 cm Expert : Franck Kassapian
