KACHAN carpet (Iran), 2nd third of the 20th century . Wool velvet on cotton backing. A magnificent poly-lobed lozenge medallion, navy, with multicolored vegetal decoration and its arrowed pendants, is set on an oblong ruby field, with accolades, covered with polychrome floral scrolls. Four spandrels, navy, ivory and sky, with arabesques and florets, frame the whole. Two sky counter-borders, highlighted with ivory, surround the main navy border, all with polychrome flower garlands.
