Very large KIRMAN carpet (Persia), early 20th century Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. An undulating, oblong ivory field, covered with a multitude of polychrome flowering stems, hosts a sky-blue polylobed medallion, with accolades, a central old-gold and ruby rosette and magnificent fleurdelisé pendants; the whole is vegetalized. Four large ruby spandrels with arabesques, multicolored scrolls and sky-blue openwork compositions frame the whole. Four pastel counter-borders with garlands of florets enclose the midnight-blue main border, enriched with sublime polychromatic swirls of foliage. Dimensions: 670 x 415 cm. Expert : Frank Kassapian
