SEIKHOUR carpet (Caucasus), late 19th century Technical features: wool velvet on wool foundation. Five linked, ivory-highlighted, navy diamond-shaped medallions with symbol semis and hearts of polychrome stylized entomological forms, rest on a navy field, also dotted with Medes stars, diamonds, "S", hourglasses and others. The frame is composed of a wide ivory border with a succession of multicolored speckled geometric arachnids, flanked by a counter border of coral and sky flower garlands and another "Bayadère" (multicolored line boxes).
