KIRMAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century early 20th century - Lot 205
KIRMAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century early 20th century . Technical characteristics: Wool velvet on cotton backing. This rug offers us the vision of an antique-style paving, with a brick background, covered with a semiset of polychrome flowers. The decoration consists of staggered oblong ivory medallions, poly-lobed and stylized with vegetation. Some rest on cruciform "foundations" reminiscent of church outlines. Others rest on shields in leafy, old gold accolades. The whole is interspersed with navy cartouches in the form of shields of varying size. Four counter-borders, sky and navy, with garlands of florets enclose the main one, brick, with a succession of floral compositions and stylized flowers, accommodated with old gold acanthus leaves. Dimensions: 480 x 300 cm. Expert : Frank Kassapian
