YARKAND carpet (Central Asia), late 19th, early 20th century. Dimensions: 310 x 225cm. Technical features : Wool velvet on cotton backing. A navy field hosts a "paving" composed of lozenges and poly-lobed cruciform flowers with ivory vegetation. They are interspersed with floral compositions crowned with acanthus leaves. A wide navy border with a succession of multicolored floral scrolls, flanked by two chestnut counter-borders with garlands of florets and leaves.
