SEIKHOUR carpet (Caucasus), late 19th century - Lot 113
SEIKHOUR carpet (Caucasus), late 19th century Dimensions: 190 x 138cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. On a fiery-red field, highlighted with old-gold and brick bayadère stripes, a bluish, honeycombed vegetal trellis stands out, adorned with flowers and blossoming corollas interspersed in a staggered pattern. The main anthracite border features a series of stylized sky frogs, flanked by two counter-borders with positive/negative chess pieces, sky and brick. Two-tone stripe highlights. Symbolic "S" supplements, dating (?) and pseudo-writing. Good condition. (Minor restorations).
