Beautiful DJIWA carpet (Caucasus), late 19th century Dimensions : 190 x 130cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool backing. On a brick-red background adorned with a multitude of polychrome symbols, three imposing stylized ivory eagles are displayed. While the stems are represented by multicolored hooked stems, the "body", bluish and brick, is represented by an oblong, cruciform shape adorned with polychrome stylized vegetation. Two brick and navy counter-borders with chess pieces frame the main ivory frame with a succession of anthracite "double S".
