Entirely woven HÉRÉKÉ silk carpet (Asia Minor), mid-20th century Dimensions: 120 x 80cm. Technical features: Silk velvet on silk backing. Pistachio Mihrab in Mughal style, with Abjad script, for this small prayer rug. The salmon-colored vaults are adorned with polychrome flower vases, fluttering with colorful birds. The ivory field is covered with a rich network of multicolored flowering stems. Two ivory counter-borders with florets frame the main apricot border with blossoming plant scrolls, overprinted with Abjad calligraphy in the upper sections.
