Fine signed silk HÉRÉKÉ rug (Asia Minor), mid-20th century Dimensions : 135 x 86cm. Technical features : Silk velvet on silk backing. Density of 1,200,000 knots per square meter. A delicate tangle of polychrome floral scrolls spreads across a navy-blue field. The central plant forms form an indistinguishable oblong medallion and its pendants. Two ivory counter-borders with a succession of florets frame the main ruby border with a garland of ivory flowers, set against bluish foliage. Signature upper right in a small cartouche.
