HÉRÉKÉ silk rug (Asia Minor), mid-20th century, metal brocaded and signed. Dimensions: 145 x 96cm. Technical features: Silk velvet and metal on silk backing. A fantastic vision of the Garden of Eden on a metal brocaded background. An incredible bestiary roams, at different altitudes, around and on the trees of life, each more in bloom than the last. Two birds of paradise embellish the upper spandrels with their shimmering plumage. Two garnet counter-borders in floral succession frame the main border, also brocaded, where a multitude of animals, of all fur and feathers, hide amid a multicolored plant tangle.
