HÉRÉKÉ silk carpet (Asia Minor), mid-20th century Dimensions: 160 x 93cm. Technical features: Silk velvet on silk backing. Density of 1,300,000 knots per square meter. An oblong ivory field with accolades, entirely covered with polychrome radiating flower stems, is framed by four wide Nattier blue spandrels with meadow flowers. Two ivory counter-borders with garlands of flowers enclose the main cream border with scrolls of flowers in circumvolution. Ribbon highlights. Beautifully fresh.
