Fine HÉRÉKÉ silk carpet signed (Asia Minor) mid-20th century Dimensions : 170 x 100cm. Technical features : Silk velvet on silk backing. Density of 1,100,000 knots per square meter. A background ranging from pistachio to ivory for this very fine silk carpet. The field features an imperceptible, oblong, poly-lobed medallion of delicate scrolls and flowering stems. The spandrels are of the same composition, with additional interlacing. Only the dark green of the leaves, the brown of the stems and small touches of red stand out against the pastel background. Two cream counter-borders with garlands of flowers frame the main border, also cream, with floral compositions and leafy wreaths. A lovely set.
