Old FÉRAHAN silk carpet (Persia), mid-19th century Dimensions : 210 x 133cm. Technical characteristics : Silk velvet on silk backing. Density of 490,000 knots per square meter. A main anthracite border supports an impressive tangle of multicolored vegetal interlacing. Two fuchsia counter-borders with garlands of flowers complete the frame. The ivory field, highlighted in old gold, is the setting for an oblong fuchsia medallion with a floral composition at its heart, resting on an equally oblong anthracite bed. Delicate fuchsia foliage, with varied, exuberant, polychrome flowers, tops and covers the entire field. Bibliography - Splendeur du tapis d'orient by A.
