Silk GHOUM carpet (Iran), shah period, mid-20th century - Lot 55
Silk GHOUM carpet (Iran), shah period, mid-20th century Dimensions: 218 x 141cm. Technical characteristics: Silk velvet on silk backing. Density of 630,000 knots per square meter. A marine field covered with an original multicolored decoration of vases, stems, floral compositions, zoomorphic trisceles and Tchis, and Asian-inspired interlacing; the whole forming what might be likened to talismanic ornaments with suspended bird medallions, supports a magnificent medallion in an ivory, sky, old gold and ruby vegetalized mandorla and its floral pendants enthroned in the center of the carpet. A main ruby border with animal decor, flanked by two cream counter-borders with garlands of flowers and birds, make up the frame. Magnificent graphics and great originality.
