Large antique Smyrna rug. Wool velvet on wool foundations. Ruby-red field decorated with a sky-blue hexagonal central medallion inlaid with a second ruby and golden yellow. Four spandrels reminiscent of the central medallion. Five borders, the main one sky-blue with polychrome geometric floral bulbs. Asia Minor. Turkey. Late 19th - early 20th century.
