Our cabinet features an architectural design with a tripartite front similar to that produced by Pierre GOLE in the second half of the 17th century. The two sides open with five drawers surrounded by ebony moldings. The central spandrel is crowned by a gallery of ormolu balusters enriched with acanthus friezes and pewter scrolls on ebony backgrounds. It is flanked by four threaded pewter pilasters with Corinthian capitals and bases resting on bases adorned with large acanthus leaves. The gilded bronze escutcheons are similar to those illustrated in
PIERRE GOLE, Ebéniste de Louis XIV. Th.h.Lunsingh Scheurleer. Editions FATON, page 125 and 194.
