In-8, contemporary marbled calf, spine ornamented. 376 p, followed by the Table des Logarithmes. Illustrated with 13 plates including 6 folding maps. New edition revised and abridged by the abbot La Caille on the art of piloting. Pierre Bouguer (1698-1758) was a professor of hydrography at Le Croisic, then at Le Havre. He succeeded Pierre Louis Maupertuis as associate geometer at the Académie des Sciences. (Polak, 1053.) Condition of use, rubbing and stains to the boards.
