On March 6, 2025, a sale of a unique collection of Longwy enamels will be held at 2pm, highlighting the fascinating career of Monsieur Claude Henriot, a passionate collector who, over the years, has assembled almost 700 different decors and more than 2,500 documented items. This sale represents the fruit of a personal quest launched in the early 2000s, inspired by trips to Iran, Uzbekistan and Central Asia, and fueled by a deep desire to understand the links between Oriental ceramic arts and French heritage.
Monsieur Henriot's passion for Longwy enamels is rooted in a childhood memory of modest but symbolic objects from his Vosges grandmother. This catalog is not just an inventory of precious objects, but a tribute to a profound approach, driven by incessant research, methodical documentation and analysis. It highlights techniques now forgotten, such as under-glaze enamels and under-majolica impressions, as well as numbered decors from the XIXᵉ century.
The sale, marked by a profoundly human aspect, also takes on a solidarity dimension: Mr. Henriot has chosen to donate all proceeds to associations fighting Parkinson's disease, an illness which, sadly, today impacts his daily life. Through this approach, he wishes to pass on his knowledge and love of Longwy enamels, while engaging in a generous and meaningful action.
This event is therefore much more than a simple sale, but a handover, an invitation to continue the work of passing on and sharing, while showcasing this important collection of Longwy enamels.
