Claude Weisbuch (1927-2014) was a French artist renowned for his etchings, paintings and lithographs. Born in Thionville, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Nancy before becoming professor of engraving at the École des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Étienne. His work is distinguished by a lively, dynamic stroke, capturing movement and the moment. He explores themes such as musicians, theater, opera and equestrian subjects. His color palette consists mainly of browns, whites and earths, highlighting the effects of light. Weisbuch has illustrated numerous works, including La Commedia dell'Arte by Pierre-Louis Duchartre, accompanied by an unpublished text by Roland Barthes. In 1987, he was awarded the Légion d'honneur.
